Clark Labs Coal & Coke Laboratory specializes in metallurgical coal and coke testing and serves clients,
both metallurgical and steam producers, high-quality services, and on-time analysis. This unique laboratory
analyzes individual coals and evaluates coals' potential in
metallurgical coal blends. Using computer models and pilot-oven testing, this laboratory also predicts
how individual coal changes to an established coal blend will affect resultant carbonization pressures and coke quality.
A unique attribute of this lab is the use of pilot test ovens with closely controlled testing variables
that include heating rate, pulverization and bulk density, all of which simulate actual plant operating
conditions. In addition, the Clark Labs Coke & Coal Lab offers customized training programs and seminars
for clients.
To further assist customers in areas of coal production, preparation, and coke making, the Clark Labs
Coke & Coal Lab also operates a West Virginia-based Coal Quality Verification Services (CQVS) group.
This group provides consulting services and assists with coal inspection, shipment monitoring, supplier
quality audits, test laboratory and ISO 9000 internal auditing, sampling system inspection, verification
of facility operations and product quality.
